SCREWBALL COMEDY

In 2018, to celebrate the centennial of the Swedish cinematic maestro, we hosted a festival event Ingmar Bergman: The Centennial Retrospective, which included 38 of his cinematic works, as a tribute to the late filmmaker. In July 2019, the retrospective event became an official Golden Horse Classic Film Festival (GHCFF).
 
2025 Golden Horse Classic Film Festival will proudly present "Screwball Comedy: Love at First Fight", a fresh angle to examine cinematic arts, apart from film directors, nations, movements and stars. It is also the first time for filmmaker Ang Lee to take part in curation.
 
The Mandarin translations of Screwball Comedy come with varied tastes: wacky, neurotic, or absurd. They all express certain quality of this movie genre, which features precise performing rhythm and witty dialogues, drifting about elegance, sophistication, nuttiness and rebellion, and it also brings about sharp examinations on society and love. The festival will introduce 30 remarkable films made between 1932 to 1952, which is also the era when this genre is most creative and dynamic.
 
In addition to the first-ever "Grand Slam" movie in the Academy Awards' history It Happened One Night, there will be films made by renowned directors like Frank Capra, Howard Hawks, Ernst Lubitsch, Preston Sturges and George Cukor; featuring all-time movie stars like Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Claudette Colbert, Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck.
 
Come enjoy the performances delivered by these beautiful people, with sarcastic humor and sparks, all in one place only on big screen.

  1. All tickets are sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
  2. Tickets are the only proof of purchase for admittance to screenings and will not be reissued if lost or damaged. Do not forward screenshots of your mobile/printed tickets and tickets pick-up information to avoid affecting your rights.
  3. Children over 100 cm in height must purchase concession tickets.
  4. Accessible seats are limited. Please make reservations by phone in advance (02-2370-0456).
  5. To ensure screening quality, latecomers will NOT be admitted to screenings 20 minutes after films begin, and tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE.
  6. Please obey rules for eating/drinking at the venue.
  7. Venues will be cleared after each screening. Please attend to your personal belongings.
  8. Safety first. Occupying the aisles is strictly prohibited.
  9. All film rights belong to the copyright owners. Photography or video/audio recording during the screenings is strictly prohibited. The festival reserves the right to require deletion of illegal files.
  10. Film information listed in the program book is up-to-date at the time of publication. Any further changes (running time/rating, etc.) will be announced on the festival’s official website and at the venues. Running time does not include Q&A sessions before or after screenings.
  11. Film ratings may change (after publication) subject to classification by the Ministry of Culture. Ticket purchasers who are ineligible due to rating changes may request a full refund at the festival ticket booth before the screening for tickets booked in advance.
  12. All attendees of this event are deemed to have consented to be photographed, recorded and/or filmed by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee during the event and to the use of these images, sounds, and videos. The Committee has the right to use these materials permanently and free of charge for any purposes, without limitation of geographical area, medium, or way of exploitation.
  13. Staff members follow guidelines set down by the festival committee to maintain a smooth operation and ensure the best possible screening quality. The committee strictly prohibits improper conduct toward the staff and will take necessary measures in dealing with misconduct. Respect others and enjoy the movie! TICKETING - ONLINE
  1. Tickets may be purchased online at tghff.tixcraft.com (tixCraft: 02-8772-9835).
  2. Please register as a Golden Horse member at the festival's official website before making purchases.
  3. Please do not access the system on multiple windows or devices simultaneously.
  4. Each online order must be confirmed within 10 minutes. Overdue orders will be cancelled. Each order is limited to a maximum of 8 tickets.
  5. Tickets can be purchased online up to 30 minutes before After that, tickets will be available at the festival ticket booths only.

      Accepted credit cards for online payment: VISA/MasterCard/JCB/UnionPay (AE/Diners Club NOT accepted)
      ※ Order status can be found in “My Tickets”. Successful payments will show “Order Confirmed”. Invalid orders will be automatically cancelled by the system. Please re-purchase the tickets.
    • JKOPay
      In the "JKOPay APP," select your payment method. Once selected, the system will automatically display your payment information for confirmation.
      ※ When purchasing tickets on a "computer" webpage, a "payment QR code" will be displayed on your screen. Please open the "JKOPay APP" on your mobile device and select "掃描條碼" to scan the payment QR code.
      ※ When purchasing tickets on a "mobile" webpage, you will automatically be redirected to the "JKOPay APP".

  1. Before the festival, tickets can be purchased at the festival’s office. Please make reservations by phone in advance (02-2370-0456).
  2. During the festival, tickets can be purchased at the festival ticket booth at each venue.
TICKET PICK-UP
  1. Mobile Ticket
    After payment, you can view the e-ticket in "View Mobile Ticket". Please present its QR code at the entrance.
  1. Printed Ticket
    Print out tickets before screenings at a self-service kiosk with your ①QR Code or ②"Collection S/N" and "Collection No." at the festival ticket booth at the venues.
    ※ All tickets in the same order will be printed at once; partial pickup is not available.
    ※ Do not print out your tickets after applying for a refund. If you print them during the “Reviewing Refund” period, your online refund request will be forfeited. Please present the tickets at the festival ticket booth for the refund process.

  1. Ticket refunds must be claimed no later than 3 days before scheduled screenings.
    Example: tickets for July 18 screenings will be refunded no later than July 15.
  2. Each refunded ticket is subject to a 10% handling fee.
  3. Mobile Tickets or Unprinted Tickets: Please sign in to the ticketing system and select "My Tickets". Click on the "Online Refund Application/Progress Inquiry" button under the order you wish to refund. Once the application is submitted, it cannot be modified.
    ※ The refund, after deducting the handling fee, will be credited back to the original credit card or the JKOPay account used for the purchase (Allow up to 20 working days for processing (after your application) + additional time based on your bank's processing speed). When applying for an online refund, the handling fee will be invoiced electronically and a text message will be sent to the mobile phone number you provided. Please ensure that the phone number is correct.
    ※ Do not print out your tickets after applying for a refund. If you print them during the “Reviewing Refund” period, your online refund request will be forfeited.
    Printed Tickets: Please present the tickets at the festival ticket booth for the refund process.
  1. Ticket exchanges are prohibited. Please refund tickets according to the above rules and purchase new tickets.
